Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose is used by foundry industries as ideal core binder because it gives optimum strength, hardness, better extrusion, easy to handle, fills the mud rapidly does not stick to its surface. During casting CMC in the core is completely burnt out leaving very little ash hence the core sand can be roused. Another important advantage of CMC is a core binder, after casting the cores are generally so brittle that tapping the goods is sufficient to make the cores disintegrate and pour through the holes left in the goods.
