The former one are composed of multi-layer rubber sheets inlaid in steel sheets before binding and sulfuration. Its great vertical rigidity is sufficient to bear the perpendicular load and reliably shift the pressure from the superstructure to the piers. Its high elasticity is adaptable to the rotation of the girder ends. Its shear deformation is sufficient to cope with the horizontal displacement of the superstructure.
